Payment Setup for Seasonal and Event-Based Businesses

If you trade six months a year or twenty weekends, a standard twelve-month merchant contract is the wrong shape. Here are the alternatives.

Avoid minimum monthly charges

Minimum monthly service charges are brutal for seasonal traders — you pay them in the closed months too. Negotiate them out, or choose a pay-as-you-go model that charges only on transactions.

Short-term terminal hire

Weekly and monthly terminal hire exists for events, festivals and pop-ups. It costs more per week than an annual rental but far less than paying twelve months for three months of trading.

Plan for connectivity

Event sites often have overloaded mobile networks. Multi-network SIM terminals and offline transaction capability, where your acquirer supports it, prevent lost sales at the busiest moment of your year.
