Audit Your Card Fees in One Hour

A step-by-step process using three months of merchant statements to find out exactly what you pay and whether it is fair.

Step one: gather and total

Take three consecutive monthly statements. Add every charge on each: processing, authorisation, terminal rental, PCI, minimum monthly, gateway and any admin fees. Then total the card turnover for the same period.

Step two: calculate the effective rate

Divide total charges by total turnover. That single percentage is your real cost. Compare it against your quoted headline rate — the gap is usually larger than merchants expect.

Step three: challenge the extras

Ancillary fees are the easiest to remove because they are pure margin. Non-compliance fees, admin charges and minimum monthlies are all negotiable, and providers routinely drop them when challenged with a credible alternative quote.
