You are mid-contract on a good rate

Termination fees frequently exceed the saving. Note the end date, prepare early, and switch when it is free to do so rather than paying to leave.

Service is genuinely good and the price is fair

A supplier that answers the phone, bills accurately and resolves problems has real value that a marginally cheaper rate does not replace. Price the disruption honestly.

Two more cases

Timing and circumstance matter as much as price.

  • You are moving premises within a few months — wait and contract at the new site
  • The market is spiking and your existing deal is below current offers
