Start with scope 1 and 2
Scope 1 is fuel you burn directly — gas and company vehicles. Scope 2 is purchased electricity. Both come straight off your utility bills, which means you can produce a credible baseline in an afternoon.
Use published conversion factors
The UK government publishes annual greenhouse gas conversion factors. Multiplying your kWh by the relevant factor gives a defensible number that procurement teams will accept.
Report honestly
A modest, accurate figure with a clear reduction plan wins more tenders than an ambitious claim you cannot evidence. Overstated green claims carry real regulatory and reputational risk.
