Check the basics

Companies House filings, how long they have traded, whether accounts are overdue, and who the directors are. Five minutes of checking prevents most bad outcomes.

Ask the awkward questions

Good suppliers answer these easily; poor ones deflect.

  • How exactly are you paid on this contract?
  • What is your notice period and early exit charge?
  • Who is my named contact and what happens when they leave?
  • Can you provide two references in my sector?

Test the support before you need it

Call the support line at 4:45pm on a Friday before you sign. How that call goes tells you more about the next three years than any brochure.
